During an equestrian parade in San Juan Capistrano, CA I photographed this guy and his horse on the street. Behind him were the downtown shops on Main St. I loved the image and thought with the right background it would make a good painting. A few years later as I drove across New Mexico, I saw a shower on the distant buttes and had what I needed to complete the idea.
